In view of the increasing complexity of the issues that the global industries and national economies have to navigate through in shaping the next phase of development of the Global humanity, there is a growing consensus that leadership education should be an essential component of university curriculum.

Given IIT KGP’s impressive track record on pursuing academic excellence, it is indeed an opportune time to expand the scope of its value proposition by developing the next phase education process that is based not only on scientific & technical training, but also on the teachings and wisdom/reasoning of ancient philosophies, and the past successes and failures of humanity; it is our strong conviction that if developed with genuine commitment in a thoughtful fashion, it will put IIT KGP students on the fast track in becoming and being leaders, both in their professional careers and in the communities they live and work.

Accordingly Partha S Ghosh (IIT Kharagpur alumni) has committed to work with the leadership/faculty of IIT Kharagpur to establish and develop a Leadership Academy, which could trigger the development of an educational process at IIT Kharagpur (which once proven-in could be spread out to all the IITs) that will develop engineers and scientists, managers alike with superior problem solving skills – in turn offer exemplary leadership qualities in the development of the nation, and the globe at large. In short the academy will advance the understanding, practice and development of leadership across academia, business and government for the benefit of society worldwide, in turn help/inspire leaders steer the course of human progress.
