Values and Beliefs

In the development of the academy and in the conduct of various programs, IIT leadership, faculty, advisors, sponsors, the supporters of the academy must respect the following values and guidelines with uncompromising commitment:

A wide spread missionary zeal, intellectual ambition, with “can do attitude”, - together must define the DNA of the academy which in turn will be the source of inspiration of all the people the academy will serve

Education to - cultivate the spirit of inquiry, nurture courage to think “out of the box”, and uncover the inner conscience to stimulate create problem solving, must take precedence over just becoming knowledgeable
The members of the academy - irrespective of his/her academic and professional stature, must always respect diverse point of views, as well as the organizations the academy might work with on projects. We should keep in mind that everyone contributes in his or her own special ways, and every contribution is valuable. A constructive disagreement is always welcome and should enable and lead to shaper and smarter solutions. This will ensure that Academy’s intellectual and operational models are truly dynamic, agile and adaptive
Any project during the launch stage should be consensus driven (in terms of: - choice of the anchor, the basic concept, the basic guidelines in terms of quality, timeliness etc.
Finally in execution of projects (particularly those that are external to IIT KGP), at all times academy members along with our students should be conscious of the fact that their individual actions and/or contributions affect their colleagues image in the communities they serve, which in turn define the goodwill and brand of the academy and IIT Kharagpur.

Overall in development of the academy all of the above points together, will define the personality and the goodwill of the academy. At the heart of the Leadership Academy will be our commitment - to excel in the programs we will undertake through our enterprising spirit and “yes we can” attitude. On that basis the academy should (i) be eagerly look for those opportunities which the academy could only serve through high quality delivery programs, (ii) genuinely find ways to make the programs enjoyable and meaningful for the students and the corporate/government executives we serve, and above all (iii) truly ensure that every program the academy undertakes will define the next chapter to serve a higher level purpose – of making the lives of the people we serve “elevating” and “inspiring”.

“Perhaps the finest gift one can give others is the confidence in stretching expectations and raising benchmarks of excellence based on never ending search for their inner strengths – present and potential”[ Partha S Ghosh]
